Recipient of all W3T proceeds
The River Rats generate national awareness of military service and provide support to family members of uniformed service aircrew personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice through combat losses or operational accidents.
In 1970 the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association (RRVA) initiated a Scholarship Program with the objective of taking care of their own. Since its inception through fall 2015, the program awarded over 1275 grants for over $2,750,000 to the children and spouses of aircrew members from the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Army. The River Rats have provided over $1.2 million in IRS 529 College Savings Plans for 161 children of fallen aviators through the Air Warrior Courage Foundation. Additionally, they have donated millions of dollars, and countless hours, to wounded warriors and their families at Military Medical Centers.
About the Event:

The Western Waters Winter Triathlon was born on December 31st, 2011, when the snow year was rough in the normally incredible Wasatch Mountains. At the top of the Snake Creek lift at Brighton, I looked down on the snowless valley around the Provo river and thought, I could ski, fish and golf in a single day. A few hours, a few beers and a half a dozen text messages later, I remembered that I really didn't golf that much and preferred to drink beer.

With the assistance of Mila, Mike, Lindsay and Coach, W3T was born; a winter Triathlon consisting of Skiing / Snowboarding, Fishing, and a beer drinking contest. A mere two and half weeks later the first W3T was executed with 11 Athletes and 16 crew and raised nearly $500 for the families of fallen military aviators. To date, W3T has raised nearly $31,000 for the cause.
