1. Boone has some of the best outdoor stuff that America has to offer, 2. It’s never a good idea to talk shit to the person who writes copy for your website, and 3. His new town was filled with caring folks who wished there was local consignment for outdoor gear.

Tenkara USA

W3T '15 sponsor

It is possible to make many things in life complex. We can choose to carry multiple fly patterns with us. We can carry multiple line weights. We can carry accessories along.

When we don’t know any better, it may seem like the burden of carrying additional things in our fishing packs (in addition to the burden of then having to think about those additional things) will add value to our fishing and make it easier. Often it does not. Tenkara USA exists to tell people that fly-fishing is much simpler than it seems. They exist because we believe that with more people taking up fly-fishing the more closely they will connect with their environment and help take care of it. They exist because they want to share the fun of tenkara. The tenkara story tells us we can leave many things behind. And, after we know that we can leave stuff behind, what we then do is simply a matter of choice.

Beardo

W3T three-year sponsor ('14, '15, and '17)

Beard hats are the invention of Jeff Phillips, a Canadian-born winter enthusiast who has a passion for snowboarding.

Jeff was chasing powder runs all around the globe and came up with the first make-shift Beardo in Whistler, B.C back in late 2006 while atop the Blackcomb mountain summit, at 7th heaven. The very first prototype was made using an old knit scarf with a hole in it, and it was far from perfect, but it has since been severely refined to the innovative and fully Patented design that you see today! As soon as the first few Beard hats were released to the public, the response said it all. They were quickly purchased up by a range of people, including skiers and snowboarders, even outdoor workers started using them on the job! The response was crazy and they saw them sell out of the entire stock in the first month.

Wasatch Brewery

W3T '12 sponsor

“Where’s the beer? Where are the breweries?” Those were among the first thoughts Greg Schirf had after moving to Utah from Milwaukee in the early 80’s. Incredibly, drinking and brewing were all but forbidden.

Greg took matters into his own hands and did what any self-respecting midwesterner would do: He started a brewery. Wasatch was the very first brewery in Utah – and one of the first craft brewers in all of the U.S. – brewing award-winning brews since 1986.

In 1988, Greg Schirf proposed another bill to the Utah Legislature making brewpubs legal in Utah and opened the first brewpub at the top of historic Main Street in the resort town of Park City. Wasatch continues to misbehave, turning out naughty beer after naughty beer year after year.
